Smokeless Range Review

It is currently Summer time here in Texas, which means 100 degree weather for days. And as much as I love shooting, staying out in that heat is a beast, and indoor ranges are usually packed, loud, and have bad ventilation.  So during these summer months I spend less time outside shooting than I would like. In order to combat this I have been looking into different at home solutions. Being a big fan of airsoft and SIRT lasers I have come across the Smokeless Range by Laser-Ammo. What the Smokeless Range does that other similar products like L.A.S.R. does not, is allow you to use a projector or large screen TV. So instead of just placing a piece of paper, and pointing a camera to catch the light. This lets you practice against moving and reactive targets. Such as a Dueling Tree:

Indoor CQB Gun Fights Force on Force May 2015

Every other Friday is Force on Force Friday where we turn our school into a Airsoft Shoot house for some great indoor gun fights. Since paper targets don’t shoot back, having a target who does shoot back adds a strong realistic aspect to firearms training. This allows students to work on entrances, cornering, doors, hallways and more in a multitude of scenarios.

Here is a highlight video of some of the indoor gun fights from our bi-weekly force on force training as part of ALIVE! Gunfighting.

Long Knife Duels Jan 2015

January 2015 Long Knife Bowie Duels

Training against or with a longer knife does have some slight nuances compared to a shorter more common knife.

A long knife gains you some extra length and weight that allows a more weighted cut when compared to a more quicker short knife but they can be harder to conceal and carry. Luckily there are a lot of the skills that transfer between the two with little to no modifications in technique and movement.

Most of this video was filmed after a weapon accessing class.

Overall

Its a great idea to train with and against knifes of different types and sizes.
