Mikhail Ryabko Stick Seminar

One of the main things I noticed that I needed work on during my time at Systema Camp, was with half / long stick drills. So I picked up this Ryabko Stick Seminar DVD from Systema HQ hoping it would cover the drills I needed to help me improve.

This DVD covers two seminars that Mikhail Ryabko held in both New York and in Moscow. It starts off in New York with Ryabko going over some stick preparation drills into some basic strikes with the stick. He also included some interesting work out drills as well. That pretty much went on for the first half of the video. The second half covered the application of what was covered the first half.

Overall there really is not much to this video. I have to say as much as I like Ryabko’s seminars this one has to be a my least favorite DVD. There are some interesting things here and there with a lot of good attribute work at the beginning but overall i was disappointed, there is just not really that much meat in this instructional video.

+ Some good warm drills

– Not much here overall

FINAL – Not Recommended

Overall i don’t recommend this one.

A better choice has to be the stick portion at the end of the “Train and Teach Systema” video.

Yes, I have to agree. This video is a waste of money, AND TIME!! I watched the entire video and it basically has nothing to offer. It’s about not having tension in the rest of your body while applying the tension only to the wrist area, rolling on the floor with the stick, getting hit by ryabko so you know how a stick shot feels like, etc.

In short, don’t bother. You won’t learn much.

I can’t tell if you are being sarcastic or not, which is great for it is causing me to rethink a bit.

While watching I was looking for a solution to a specific problem, one that was not answered by this particular DVD. But in doing so I might have been missing the forest for the trees.

Sounds like a good reason for another viewing either way.
