No experience is required. Most students start as complete beginners. Our programs use structured lessons, beginner-friendly coaching, and a supportive training environment so you can start at any fitness level.
Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows movement and provides coverage. Bring water. If your class involves shoes (such as some combatives sessions), wear athletic shoes. If you have questions about uniforms or gear, contact us before your first visit.

For self-defense, many beginners start with Gracie Combatives® or Women Empowered®. If you want a combat sport with throws and grappling, Sport Sambo is a great fit. If you want contextual combatives training, ALIVE!™ Combatives focuses on practical decision-making and timing under pressure.
Yes. Women Empowered® is our women-only self-defense program based on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu principles and common real-world attack scenarios.
Both are grappling arts, but they emphasize different skill sets. BJJ often focuses heavily on guard and ground control, while Sport Sambo places strong emphasis on throws, takedowns, fast transitions, and submissions. Many students cross-train because the skills complement each other.
We do not offer a traditional Krav Maga program. Many people who search for Krav Maga are looking for practical self-defense training, and they often find a great fit in our Gracie self-defense curriculum, Women Empowered®, or ALIVE!™ Combatives.
Yes. We host hands-on medical and trauma training, including CPR/AED and bleeding control, and we also offer private training for organizations. Check our Events page for upcoming dates.
Yes. We have strength training sessions, and some are invite-only. If you’re interested, contact us and we’ll point you to the best option based on your goals and experience.
